Job Description: This position would invite applications from students looking forward to having hands on experience in Microbiology lab supporting testing of pharmaceutical, neutraceutical, cosmetic, and pet food particles. To perform basic microbiological testing on finished products from commercial, R&D and stability divisions, in process, raw materials, water samples, environmental surfaces and personnel within the Geopharma, Inc. This includes follow-up testing and investigations if required. Responsible for generating accurate results while following GMP requirements and in accordance with established compendia and in-house methods.
Responsibilities:

- Bio burden testing of systems: water, steam, compressed air, and nitrogen.
- Finished product Microbial Limits testing, environmental sampling of production areas, personnel and equipment monitoring, general lab maintenance, cleaning validation samples, and biological identification of contaminants.
- ATCC Culture identificatioin and population verifications.
- Recording of testing and results in appropriate logbooks and lab automation programs.
- Maintenance of gown qualification, as well as gown training and testing of production personnel.
- Media preparation, growth promotion testing, lab autoclave maintenance.
- Performs transactions for sample entry and results recording.
- Performs method validation for basic microbiological methods where applicable.
- Compiles all data obtained from testing and observations and completes report summaries.
- Recognizes OOS or out of trend and under the direction of the supervisor assets in lab investigations.
- Works as an effective team member to meet departmental goals, sharing knowledge with team members
- Assists in departmental housekeeping and other pertinent duties, as assigned in accordance with safety and GLP.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

- Educational background in Microbiology or related branch of Science (college or University degree).
- Experience in pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory an asset.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A fast learner with flexibility, detail oriented nature, and excellent problems solving skills preferred.
- Understanding of GMP and GLP.
